TOI reported recently that Delhi- NCR has unseated Mumbai as the top job creator with maximum number of employment oppurtunities coming up in IT and IT-enabled sector, a study has revealed. Out of the NCR region ,Gurgaon has bagged the first position leaving behind the other National capital region areas.
Gurgaon, well known for its upscale shopping malls, IT-enabled companies, top BPOs, KPOs and manufacturing companies is situated in northern Haryana. Located in the National Capital Region (NCR) and situated South of the National Capital - New Delhi it has essentially become an extension or a suburb of Delhi. The city as an emerging business centre has grown by leaps and bounds over the years. It has become an outsourcing hub in India and has thereby become a hop spot for job searchers. Employment prospects and local wages in Gurgaon have proliferated due to the outsourcing boom. With the growth of Gurgaon as an industrial city, a deluge of shopping malls, chic restaurants and bars, and entertainment facilities have come up in the city. World-class infrastructure, political stability, easy and cheap availability of workforce and proximity to the airport are some of the vital factors which make Gurgaon a job seekers’ Mecca.
As per a study done by NeoIT, an off shoring consultancy on 27 cities in India on their off shoring competitiveness, Gurgaon is the most sought after location for software and outsourcing. Gurgaon was preferred over Bangalore by some of the significant organizations to start their new operations. As a matter of fact Gurgaon has become the MNC hub in North India.
Some of the big BPOs, KPOs, IT/ITES companies of Gurgaon are IBM-Daksh, GE Money, HCL technologies limited, Wipro technologies limited, Alcatel. Progeon, Convergys, Accenture services, Genpact, WNS, AMEX etc. In fact, the list is really getting longer with the rapid arrival of new MNCs and BPOs in Gurgaon.
In addition, Gurgaon is an industrial town with a major industrial hub at Manesar and additional SEZs in the pipeline. The major industries are automobile ancillaries, garments and engineering goods. It is also a major medical centre.
